Who is responsible
NammaScan (www.nammascan.com) is run by Sureeth Kumar in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. For anything in this policy, email nammascan@gmail.com.
The short version
- You don't need an account to use NammaScan, and we don't ask for your name, phone number or payment details.
- We record what you search for and which offers you click, so we can improve results and get paid by partners.
- Partner sites set their own cookies when you click through to them.
- We never sell your personal data.
What we collect
- Searches: the city, dates, number of guests and filters you choose.
- Outbound clicks: when you click an offer, it goes through a NammaScan link (
/go/…). We log the offer, the partner, the time and a random click ID before sending you on. The click ID is passed to the partner so we can match a completed booking to the click and receive our commission. It doesn't contain your name or contact details. - Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider records basic request data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the site running.
- Analytics: we may use privacy-friendly analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. These tools may use cookies or similar technology.
- Emails you send us: if you write to us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.
Cookies
NammaScan itself uses few or no cookies. When you click through to a partner such as Agoda, Hostelworld, MakeMyTrip, goSTOPS, Zostel or Booking.com, that partner, or the affiliate network it uses, may set affiliate cookies on its own site. These record that you came from NammaScan so the booking can be credited to us. They are covered by the partner's own privacy and cookie policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Why we use your data
- To show and improve search results
- To track referrals to partners and receive commission (see our affiliate disclosure)
- To keep the site secure and fix problems
- To answer your emails
Sharing
We share only what's needed: the click ID with the partner you clicked through to, and technical data with our hosting and analytics providers, who process it on our behalf. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Your rights under the DPDP Act 2023
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you rights over your personal data. You can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to withdraw consent you have given. You can also raise a grievance with us. Email nammascan@gmail.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
How long we keep data
Search and click logs are kept only as long as needed to reconcile commissions with partners and understand how the site is used, typically up to 24 months. After that they are deleted or anonymised.
Children
NammaScan is meant for adults planning travel. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
